Winter Village returns to Curtis Hixon Park, complete with ice rink
The Curtis Hixon Park Winter Village returns on November 19 and features a local vendor’s market and skating rink. Local businesses have set up around the ice rink and a giant Christmas tree to celebrate the holiday season. It is perhaps the most dreamlike event in the city.
The dates have just been published for Winter Village. The holiday extravaganza returns on November 19 and will remain in Curtis Hixon Park until January 2, 2021.
Winter Village will now operate on a paperless ticketing system.
For the safety and convenience of all guests, a limited number of visitors will be admitted to the rink every 30 minutes and each individual will be given 75 minutes to skate. All tours must be booked in advance by purchasing one or more timed tickets online. All visitors will receive a confirmation email with a security waiver and receipt.

The Choo Choo
New to Winter Village this year, Curtis Hixon Park Choo Choo will be your child’s new favorite vacation activity! Climb aboard for a 10-minute ride through the park to enjoy the lights and sounds of the Winter Village. This FREE adventure is on a first come, first served basis with no prior reservation. Curtis Hixon Park Choo Choo Station is conveniently located at the top of Curtis Hixon Park, near the corner of Ashley Dr. and Twiggs St.
Holiday Tales with Bob & Gretchen
Join Tampa this holiday season for Holiday Tales with Bob & Gretchen! You might remember those crazy snow birds from the Winter Village Express from the past two years and now they’re back to bring you some holiday fun! These FREE family shows will take place in the heart of the Winter Village, every Sunday from November 22 to December 20. Sessions are at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and last approximately 20 minutes. PLEASE NOTE: social distancing measures will be taken and places will be limited.
Spot Santa Claus at Curtis Hixon Park Winter Village
Letters with Mrs. Claus
Write and mail your letter to Santa Claus right here at the Winter Village! Ms. Claus will be there to help you craft the perfect letter, pose for festive photos, and answer any questions you have about the “great man” himself. Can’t you come see Mrs. Claus? Don’t worry, you can drop your letter anytime, but if you choose to write your own, be sure to include your address. Ms. Claus will visit the Winter Village on November 27 and December 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Santa Claus Observation
He makes a list and checks it twice, but not before making a few surprise visits to the Winter Village! Be sure to stay off the villain list and stay tuned to Winter Village on Facebook and Instagram for when you might be able to spot the man in red yourself. Bring your camera and get ready for a socially distanced Santa experience like no other.
Safety measures in place at the Winter Village
Here is an overview of COVID-19 procedures:
The following measures are being implemented to protect our community from COVID-19.
– All guests entering the site, and at all times during their visit, must wear a face mask or face covering, including when skating on the ice.
– The capacity of the room has been reduced to allow social distancing.
– Contactless, cashless ticketing, with hourly reservation.
– Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing on and off the rink.
– Benches for skaters will be set up to allow a social distance of 6 feet between the groups.
– Hand sanitizer booths will be located throughout the site for guest use.
– All main contact points will be sprayed frequently with disinfectant.
– A disinfectant will be applied to the outside and inside of each skate by a member of the staff at the skate rental counter during the delivery of each ice skate rental.
