PELHAM – Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena has announced its World Ice Skating Day and set the date for Sunday, December 4 from 5:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.

World Ice Skating Day is dedicated to celebrating ice skating around the world in the form of a global festival. The various celebrations are supported by US Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA and the International Skating Union.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” read a press release from the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena. “It’s time to celebrate the holidays, make new memories with friends and family, and learn all about the diverse skating opportunities the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena has to offer through its skating school, hockey and the general public.”

The main objectives are “to make the sports of ice skating accessible to everyone in a fun and safe way by creating a memorable experience for the whole family to share their passion for the different sports, in particular this magic feeling of sliding so unique to the ice skating,” according to a press release from the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena.

The event will allow members of the media to experience skating with the public at a public skate, observe one of the Holiday Ice Show practices and have the opportunity to interview coaches and skaters and bring families to the rink for skating fun between the thematic practice and public skate show. Cameras will be allowed on the players’ benches and rental skates will be available for the press and families to take to the ice.
