Figure skaters from Kuwait compete in Dubai International Tournament – ARAB TIMES
KUWAIT, May 5: A Kuwaiti women’s figure skating delegation, consisting of 12 players, traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday to participate in an international figure skating competition (Skate Emirates). The championship is set to kick off tomorrow in Dubai and run for three days amid huge international attendance.
Kuwaiti Winter Games Club Director Salem Al-Ajmai named the participating athletes to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) before the start, Hessa Al-Saraawi, Jana Al-Shamlan, Sarah Al-Laho, Khairiya Al -Kandari, Sama Chragh, Hajar Al-Kandari, Nora Qutaina, Salma Al-Saqa, Elizabeth Frank, Jouri Al-Mulla, Lea Al-Qabandi and Modhawi Al-Hamdan. Al-Ajmi added that the club had organized a camp in Turkey and another at home to prepare for the tournament, praising the commitment and determination of the athletes. He also described the girls’ participation in this championship as an important event to showcase the progress of the game in Kuwait globally, especially as the game grows in popularity. He also highlighted the role of the board of directors led by Fhaid Al-Ajmi for their support. Also joining the delegation are board member Mubarak Al-Omani, national team supervisor Ghena Al-Fahad and coaches Alice Leopardi and Leia Faith. The Kuwait Winter Games Club includes five sports, Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, Curling, Ice Skating and Speed Skating (KUNA)
