Dancing On Ice: Joe-Warren Plant falls on the ice

Joe-Warren Plant, 18, of Dancing On Ice, was forced to deny taking secret ice skating lessons before the start of the series.

The Emmerdale actor, who is paired with Vanessa Bauer, reportedly took several figure skating lessons in Blackpool so didn’t start from scratch.

A representative from Dancing On Ice confirmed that this was not true and added that even if one of the contestants had taken lessons before, it would not break any rules.

They told the Mirror: “That’s completely untrue.”

Following Vanessa’s message that read “Joe has never skated before”, a source told The Sun: “To repeat over and over that Joe is a complete amateur is just nonsense.

“He may not be the most accomplished skater, as viewers saw on Sunday night with his fall, but he is far from a novice.

“He didn’t break any rules and he didn’t hide that from the producers, but that’s not exactly in the spirit of competition where everyone starts from scratch.”

The show’s spokesperson also clarified reports that Vanessa is breaking the show’s Covid rules by living with her boyfriend Rory McCall, while filming the show.

“It’s only the married couples (there are two so four professional skaters in total) who are both on the show that go their separate ways because we wouldn’t mix the cohorts (the couples on the show) and they all happily agreed,” they said.

“There are a lot of pros and celebrities on the show who have partners and families that aren’t on the cast and where they can come home to.

“Vanessa is no different from the majority of the cast (and there is no resentment among married couples for any of them) and her living conditions are entirely within the rules.”
