Green discovery – Green Mountain Energy Ice

Returning for the 2022 holiday season, this pop-up outdoor rink in downtown Houston continues to be one of locals’ favorite ways to celebrate the holidays. The rink will be open until the end of January and tickets must be purchased in advance for a specific time slot. The rink also hosts special events like Skating With the Stars on Clutch City Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Tickets are $15 with skate rental included and only $8 on Cheap Skate Mondays.

The Woodlands Town Center Ice Rink

Another pop-up rink in Houston that’s right in town for the holidays is the Woodlands Town Center rink. This rink offers a state-of-the-art sound system and space for parties. They encourage advance booking online through their website to ensure availability at your preferred time. This indoor rink in the Woodlands will operate until January 17 this year.

Tickets with skate rentals are $15 for ages six and $6 for ages five and under or $12.50 if you have your own. They also have special pricing for large groups as well as walker and helmet rentals for $10 each.

If you’ve shopped at this epic Houston mall, you’ve probably stopped to watch the newbies and pros at the Galleria ice rink. Now you ! During the holiday season, you will skate around the huge Christmas tree that goes up each year.

Admission prices are all-inclusive, costing $23 for six and up and $21 for five and under.

Ice Skating Memorial Town

This Houston rink is located inside the Memorial City Mall and offers both public skating as well as lessons and space for parties. You can find their schedule online, which will let you know what hours are open to the public that day. Public skating hours are generally between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. They also offer an ice skating academy on Tuesdays and Saturdays where you can learn the basics.

Entrance fees to Ice Skate Memorial City are $10 each plus an additional $5 for skate rentals. If you skate with toddlers, they offer skating aids for $10 an hour.

For those in northwest Houston, Aerodrome might be the best place to ice skate in Houston for you. This place is a great place to learn to skate, master figure skating, or join an ice hockey team. There are many different programs for adults and children. They also offer public skating and skate rentals. At night, they dim the lights and play music ranging from country to jazz, making this a great Houston rink for a date night.

Admission here is $10 per person or $8 for Aerodrome program members. Skate and walker rentals are $5 each. They also offer group rates.

Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center

If you are looking to improve your ice skating skills, Sugar Land Ice is the perfect rink in Houston for you. Not only do they offer weekly introductory classes, but they also have multiple tiers so you can find the skill level class that’s right for you. You will also find private lessons, figure skating and hockey. The student skaters even put on a Nutcracker holiday show every year!

Public skating is also available for $12 admission, but be sure to check their website for the most up-to-date schedule.

Bellerive Ice Center

While the rest of the Houston rinks on our list are ideal for the public and those with more experience, the Bellerive Ice Center is open only to National Hockey Association members, figure skaters and their coaches who are looking for a more private practice location. It is also home to the Houston Curling Club. Hockey players and figure skaters looking for a place to train among others who take the sport seriously will feel right at home here.
